FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where do you work and what are the costs?
We work across the UK and abroad. In each location there may be varying environmental, technical and physical limitations but the best way to find out is to ask. Prices are hourly or rounded to half day & full day. Only by asking for a quote can a realistic price be given. What's your qualification?
To legally fly a small UAV commercially in the UK the Operator is legally required to hold a Permission for Commercial Operations from the UK Civil Aviation Authority. Before PfCO is issued the Operator must write and have approved an Operations Manual. Also, any pilots who are to fly for that Operator must hold a CAA approved NQE issued qualification demostrating their operating competence and flying ability. We hold the Permission for Commercial Operations (PfCO) issued by the UK Civil Aviation Authority, and hold the CDP-C qualification. Is it safe?
As with piloting any commercial or private aircraft, we have to hold an approved and up to date Operational Procedures Manual and Flying Check List - our Operation's Manual is approved by the CAA. Safety is our most important criteria to ensure we produce the quality results that you are looking for from our service. Are you insured?
We are fully insured with Cover Drone for up to £5 million. What are the limitations?
There are a number of limiting factors to where we can operate, but only with a site survey can we decide this. Otherwise weather is the only real limiting factor to when - we cannot operate in rain or in high winds. What are the flying times and operating hours?
We can fly for approximately 20 minutes in one go, but with numerous power packs to keep us airborne we can fly all day if required. Are UAV's better than helicopters & tracking rails?
They get different results, however they are certainly much cheaper! Helicopters are loud and can be intrusive, they are also limited to 500ft agl. Our battery powered drones are relatively quiet and can fly much closer to the action giving a far more intimate view point. Drones can also be put into action much quicker, this is beneficial if the nature of the work is sporadic e.g. sports events. How does it work?
The basic process is as follows;
